Southwest Air On Sale

Airline Urges Customers to Fly With Low Three-Day Advance Purchase Fares

Southwest Airlines wants to ensure that Customers take to the skies again, and it is offering low sale fares as an incentive.

From now until Oct. 11, Customers can buy three-day advance purchase roundtrip fares for as low as $34 each-way for travel any day of the week. Sample fares include: $34 each way between Las Vegas and Los Angeles; $50 each way between Kansas City and Chicago Midway; and $89 each way between Baltimore/Washington and Los Angeles. The fares are valid for travel from Sept. 28 through the current end of the schedule (Jan. 11, 2002) and require roundtrip purchase.

"We are determined to get back to business," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's senior vice president of marketing. "The 32,000 Employees of Southwest Airlines together salute the American spirit, and we stand with our fellow airlines in the mission to get America flying again."

Customers who book their travel via southwest.com can take advantage of Anniversary Specials for $30 one-way with a three-day advance purchase for travel any day of the week in select markets. See southwest.com for details. Fares must be purchased by Sept. 27.

The rules: the $34-$89 fares are each way with roundtrip purchase and overnight stay required; the Anniversary Specials are one-way; tickets must be purchased within one day of making reservations and at least three days before departure; seats will be limited or unavailable during peak travel times and holiday periods; tickets are nonrefundable but (except for tickets purchased through our group tickets program) may be applied to future travel on Southwest; any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare; fares do not include a federal excise tax of up to $3 per takeoff and landing nor airport taxes of up to $18 roundtrip; fares are not necessarily common rated in Houston, the Bay Area, or the LA Basin; and Orange County and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport are not included in this sale.

Southwest Airlines is the nation's fourth largest airline with more than 32,000 Employees. It operates more than 2,760 daily departures to 57 cities, and that number will grow to 58 cities when Southwest begins service in Norfolk, Va., on Oct. 7, 2001.
