Emerald Palms on South Andros Island is now under new management by Tiamo Resorts, the award winning ecotourism and environmentally conscious resort company. This deal starts at US $775 per person for a four day package and includes the flight from Fort Lauderdale to South Andros Island, a stay in a lovely Garden On-Bedroom Villa, Caribbean inspired breakfast and dinner, and unlimited use of kayak and snorkeling equipment. This package is available from now through February 28, 2007. For families, children are charged the $775 rate due to airfare restrictions and families are four will be upgraded to a two-bedroom villa.
The programs at the Emerald Palms Kids Activity Center are available for $25 per day and include such activities as straw plaiting, Junkanoo mask-making, Bahamian folk tales told by local storytellers, hermit crab racing, coconut boat regattas, sand castle building, and other events. The Activity Center is open throughout the day to keep children engaged.
In the Tiamo tradition, Emerald Palms is also devoted to teaching children and adults about the delicate ecosystems that make South Andros unique. The resort offers adventure explorations such as the Blue Hole Terrestrial Tour, a two-hour guided hike through the bush with education on local medicine lore and the exploration of several inland blue holes. Kayaking trips around the Salt Creeks of Andros Island hold the opportunity for viewing sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, baby sharks, water birds and other creatures.
