FOR TYKES THAT LOVE TO BUILD: At the Marriott Kids Club, located within the 452-room CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort, children are encouraged to learn about the local environment through the “BeachBuilder” program. During this 30-minute session, kids will learn about beach recovery and erosion. Cancun completed a major beach preservation program in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma (October 2005), and now the resort would like to celebrate its beautifully restored beach by educating younger guests on this environmental undertaking. The session, run by the CasaMagna Marriott Kids Club team, consists of bringing children (6-10 years old) to the hotel’s beach and instructing the group on the recovery process. All participants will be given miniature shovels, hard hats, rakes, buckets and mini-carts. Upon completion, the children will receive a special certificate and become official CasaMagna Cancun “BeachBuilders.” Children four to 12 years of age can enjoy the Kids Club for a cost of $35/day (this includes lunch and a backpack filled with goodies); 10am – 4pm daily.

FOR THE WATER BABY: Situated next door, the 448-room JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa allows families to become certified divers at the property. The JW Marriott is the only resort in Cancun to offer a pool certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). This 18-foot deep pool contains an artificial coral reef and marine life to mimic the landscape of the Caribbean waters a few feet away. After working with diving experts and instructors, families can opt to venture out to the Caribbean and put their certification to use through the resort’s partnership with AquaWorld. Children as young as 8 years old can participate in the JW Marriott dive sessions and earn a “Bubble-Maker Certificate.” The cost for private family dive lessons at the resort is $33/per person. There is a minimum age requirement of ten years old to dive in the ocean.

FOR THE MINI BEAUTY QUEEN: After the activities are done for the day, kids want relaxation too. Guests from both the CasaMagna and the JW Marriott have the option to experience the JW Marriott Kids SPA (located within the JW Marriott SPA). The Kids Spa at the JW Marriott Cancun offers cool and trendy spa options ranging from an ice cream pedicure ($35) to a chocolate facial ($40) to an over-the-top Mayan Princess for a Day treatment ($95 for two hour treatment). For the younger guest (beginning at age six), the resort has hair styling, manicures, pedicures and facials. Massage treatments are offered to teens ages 15-17.
