Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa’s “Family Plan”Offers 50 Percent Room Discount
Families have a new reason to head to Maui for their vacation. Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa has announced its 2001 family plan. Families enjoy 50 percent off a second room for children, ages 18 and under, on a space available basis.
The “Family Plan” with terrace accommodations starts at $300 for the first room and $150 for the second room (accommodates up to two children, age 18 or younger). Children who use existing bedding in their parents’ room stay at the resort free of charge. Prices are subject to change and do not include airfare, incidentals, gratuities or occupancy tax.
Special kid’s menus, with items $5 and under, are available at all the restaurants at the resort. Children, ages 4 to 12, receive a 50 percent discount on selected items on the regular menu. At Swan Court children, age 3 and younger, eat free and children, age 5 and under, eat free at Drums of the Pacific luau.
The resort has a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy. Parents can head off on their own adventure or spend the day relaxing at the half-acre pool while the kids enjoy a day of fun at Camp Hyatt, an activity program for children. The program is available daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for kids ages 3 to 12. Full-day, half-day and evening programs are available. Cost starts at $60 for the full-day program.
After a day of play at Camp Hyatt, each child receives Family Camp Adventures at Hyatt Regency Maui, a travel journal packed with fun activities for children and their parents. The journal spotlights activities from spa services such as a manicure in a private oceanfront cabana to surfing or sailing lessons off Ka‘anapali shore, available through the resort’s beach activity desk.
Free wildlife tours are held three times a week. During the one-hour walking tour, kids get acquainted with the wild personalities of the resort’s animal family including penguins, swans, ducks and flamingos. Children can play games such as call and response with an East African crowned crane named “Spike.”
Other activities for young children to share with their teen siblings are free pool scuba lessons (for those age 12 or older) held daily, and ocean adventures on Kiele V, the resort’s catamaran. During the winter sails, whales are frequently seen, and sea turtles are spotted year round. Special rates are available for children, age 13 or under.
Another must-do for families with kids of all ages is Tour of the Stars, Hyatt Regency Maui’s rooftop astronomy program. Maui’s heavenly views of planets, collapsing stars and supernovas are seen through “Big Blue,” the resort’s high powered 16-inch telescope. A discounted rate of $15 is available to children, ages 12 and under.
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa spans 40 acres in front of Ka‘anapali Beach and includes two acres of streams and waterfalls, a half-acre adventure swimming oasis and a $2 million Asian art collection. In July 2000, the resort opened Spa Moana, Hawaii’s first oceanfront spa.
