XANTERRA PARKS & RESORTS AND YELLOWSTONE ASSOCIATION INSTITUTE ANNOUNCE FAMILY PROGRAM OFFERINGS FOR SUMMER 2004
Xanterra Parks & Resorts and the non-profit Yellowstone Association Institute will offer four weekly sessions of its popular "Yellowstone for Families" program in summer 2004. Designed for parents and children to enjoy their park experience together, Yellowstone for Families is a four-day, four-night educational program that includes lodging and is led by a naturalist/guide from the Institute.
Yellowstone for Families will run Monday to Friday and Friday to Tuesday, with two programs based at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and two based at Grant Village each week.
Guided by a knowledgeable Institute naturalist, families enjoy activities including animal tracking, wildlife watching, photography, educational videos, painting and hiking. Over the course of the four days, parents will help their children complete the requirements of the National Park Service's Junior Ranger Program, and the last day will culminate with the ceremonial presentation of Junior Ranger patches by a park ranger.
Offered June 7 through August 27, the program will explore the daily themes of Geysers, Mudpots and Hot Springs; Wildlife; Canyons and Waterfalls; and the National Park Idea. The Mammoth Hot Springs program will explore Geysers, Mudpots and Hot Springs at Mammoth and Norris Geyser Basin while the Grant program will explore the geothermal features at West Thumb and the Old Faithful area. The Mammoth program will explore the wildlife theme on the Northern Range, and the Grant program will do so in Hayden Valley and Pelican Valley.
Designed for families with children ages 8-12, the program can accommodate children of other ages. The maximum group size is 13. The rate, not including taxes or gratuities, is $732 for a single adult or $1,084 for a couple plus $328 per child. Members of the Yellowstone Association receive a $10 discount for the program.
In addition to lodging and instruction, the package includes the activities, breakfast and box lunch daily per person, in-park van transportation and optional evening programs. Reservations for these programs can be made by calling (1) 307-344-5566.
