Orlando Named Top Family Spring Break Destination In National Survey
Orlando was ranked by parents as the top choice for a Family Spring Break destination, according to a recent independent national survey.
The survey, by TNS Intersearch, of 2,000 adults found 20 percent of parents selected Orlando as the first choice for spring break, compared to 8 percent for Miami and 5 percent for New York. The numbers come as no surprise to William C. Peeper, president of the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc.
"This research validates our long-standing belief that Orlando appeals to people of all ages and families of all sizes," Peeper says. "With more than 95 attractions ranging from the largest and most diverse collection of theme parks in the world and a multitude of smaller attractions to nature excursions and cultural opportunities, the destination practically guarantees that all family members will find their favorite pastime -- or discover a new one."
Family Spring Break(SM) is a travel trend defined as families traveling together with children, high school-aged or younger. The most popular activities among families with children if they were to travel to Orlando included: visiting area theme parks (77 percent); going to the beach (15 percent); other local attractions (6 percent); boating, camping and fishing (3 percent); water parks (3 percent) and visiting friends and relatives (3 percent). Thirty-three percent of parents surveyed also claimed they were extremely or somewhat likely to take a trip with their entire family during the 2004 spring break timeframe.
Additionally, in a Yankelovich Monitor Live survey conducted in 2002, 57 percent of those surveyed stated that when on vacation, they want to spend time with friends and family. This was up from 48 percent in 2001.
Spring celebrates a time of "togetherness" and an Orlando Family Spring Break(SM) offers families a chance to spend quality time with one another in an atmosphere that promotes interaction and strong family bonding.
