KidSpa and Teen Spa at Pinehurst Opens Over Easter Weekend

Pinehurst Resort is officially putting out the sign this Spring and Summer season at The Spa at Pinehurst: KIDS WELCOME. With a menu of kid-friendly treatments and products, the opening will be a big hit for families visiting the famed resort.

"Pinehurst has found a way to balance an adult's need for sanctuary with their need to do things with their families on vacation," said Kim Parker, director of The Spa at Pinehurst. "With a new Teen Lounge and treatment rooms designated specifically for children, we've created a whole new, relaxing family experience."

Kids 3-12 have four treatments designed especially for them: the Kids Massage (20 minutes), Kids Facial (20 minutes), Twinkle Toes and Fancy Fingers, Cutesy cuts, and Mother/Daughter ReTREAT package (2 hours). The last is a morning or afternoon of pampering - mom receives a mini facial, Spa manicure and pedicure, while the daughter enjoys a Kids Facial, Fancy Fingers and Twinkle Toes.

Teens aged 12-16 will enjoy the Total Teen Facial, Teen Makeup Application/Lesson, Teen Tune-Up training session, Teen Time Out Spa Package (2 hours), and other special services. All treatments focus on hip teen product lines such as "Motives" and "Gear" apparel.

"It just makes sense to Pinehurst," said Parker. "We've designed the program around wellness, and self-esteem, a key to healthy living for today's youth. We combine classic treatments such as massage and facials, pedicures and manicures, with education on mind/body/soul connection, exercise and nutrition, relaxation. The result is fun, uplifting and energizing to kids of all ages - and is a great parent/child activity they can do together."

Safety is also a focus. Same-sex therapists will be offered for all kids and teen treatments, and parents must be in the room with a fully clothed child aged 3-12 receiving a service.

"Since the Spa at Pinehurst opened in 2002, we've received innumerable requests for parent/child and teen spa services," said Kim Parker, Spa director. "We're opening the doors, offering a new Teen Spa Lounge as a place to gather, and getting them comfortable in a Spa with their parent or grandparent."

Other offerings at The Spa at Pinehurst include Yoga Jewelry, Spa aromatherapy bears, Teen Eye Mask, Teen OPI Nail Polish, Ice Cream Scoop Fizz Balls and the "Get Fresh" kids homecare pedicure line.

KidSpa will be unveiled Easter weekend, April 9th. KidSpa offerings range from $25; overnight packages for Easter begin at $339 for two nights, breakfast and dinner, plus a round of golf or spa treatment for adults - kids under 12 stay and eat for free.

Fun family spa treatments are certainly are not the only activities available for families at Pinehurst. Pinehurst boasts eight championship golf courses, including the world-renowned Pinehurst No. 2, site of the 2005 U.S. Open Championship. The 2,000-acre resort is also the home of the Spa at Pinehurst, a 31,000-square foot facility, and three world-class historic hotels. The Carolina, the "Queen of the South," is a stately Victorian; The Holly, an intimate inn with Four-Diamond dining, is Pinehurst's most luxurious accommodation; and The Manor provides a casual atmosphere. Built in 1895, Pinehurst resort is located in the heart of North Carolina, about 70 miles southwest of Raleigh.
