Outrigger's Condominium Collection Help Stretch The Family Budget While On Vacation

Planning a family vacation can be a logistical and budgetary dilemma for families who want to spend a holiday together as one big happy group, but booking an Outrigger resort condominium in Hawaii might be one possible solution.

Families can create their own unique vacation experience by selecting the Outrigger resort condominium that is the best fit for their family, and budgets can be stretched with room rates lower than full service hotels, larger accommodations that can accommodate the whole family and full-service kitchens to save on dining out.

All of this means a tropical vacation to Hawaii might fit into the family budget easier than visiting an overcrowded theme park or trying to arrange a camping trip at a popular national park.

The Value of Condominium Travel

Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, Hawaii's largest hotel company, offers Outrigger's Condominium Collection, an assortment of 11 resort condominium properties on Hawaii's four main islands with amenities families will find indispensable while on vacation, such as full kitchens, laundry facilities and lots of space for the kids to enjoy.

"For families traveling with children, condos are literally your home-away-from-home and offer great value," says Tim Alex, director of sales & marketing for Outrigger's Condominium Collection. "Not only are condo units competitively priced with equivalent hotel accommodations, but full kitchens mean you'll save money by not eating every meal in a restaurant, and you'll be able to enjoy each other's company in the spacious privacy of your condo. For a family of four vacationing in Hawaii, this can mean a saving of at least $100 a day."

Tim Alex also points out that keeping snacks in the fridge for after the beach or pool, packing picnic lunches to take on daylong excursions, or cooking dinner and eating on the lanai are all great ways to stretch a family's dining budget while enjoying family time, which is becoming more and more elusive in our busy world.

Other amenities include washers and dryers, pools, fitness centers and in-room movies, making a stay in an Outrigger resort condominium more comfortable and convenient. Most of Outrigger's condominiums offer expansive grounds, too, where kids and parents can let loose and expend their pent up energy.

Location, Location, Location

While today's travelers are increasingly savvy, independent and demand quality, there is no substitute for the location of the property. Outrigger's Condominium Collection consists primarily of premium low-rise beachfront properties within some of Hawaii's best resort destinations, and the deluxe, fully furnished studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units are also among Hawaii's finest inventory of resort condominiums.

The beautiful island of Kauai was recently designated the number one island in Hawaii by readers of Travel & Leisure magazine. Travelers can discover why when staying at either of Outrigger's two condominium resorts on Kauai. The Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation is located on Poipu Beach, ranked by Conde Nast Traveler magazine as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Here, published rates start at $225 per night for a one-bedroom suite. The Outrigger at Lae nani, near the charming town of Kapaa, sits on a beautiful, protected golden sand beach along Kauai's eastern shore and offers published rates starting at $215 per night for a one-bedroom apartment with ocean view.

Maui boasts four Outrigger condo properties, all in the best locales. The Outrigger Palms at Wailea, with published rates starting at $245 per night for a one-bedroom suite, is surrounded by lush landscaping and three nearby golf courses. The Outrigger Maui Eldorado in Kaanapali is ideally located on the famed Kaanapali Golf Course and just a short walk to stunning golden sand beaches and shopping in Whaler's Village. Rates here start at $255 per night for a one-bedroom unit.

Further west on Maui, the Outrigger Royal Kahana sits right on the beach and offers expansive views of Lanai, Molokai and Maui. Here, a one-bedroom apartment starts at $225 per night. Quaintly nestled next to the beach, with the feel of old Hawaii, is the ever-popular Outrigger Napili Shores. Perched overlooking Napili Bay, it is ideally situated to watch sunsets year-round and whales in the winter months. Published rates here begin at $212 per night for a one-bedroom unit.

The Big Island of Hawaii offers three Outrigger condominium resorts. The Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff is just minutes from the shopping and restaurants of bustling Kona, with championship golf nearby. The Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona, set on 16 beautiful oceanfront acres, features oceanfront dining at Edward's Restaurant, with championship golf and the Keauhou Shopping Village close by.

Twenty-six miles to the north is the Outrigger Fairway Villas, located within the deluxe Waikoloa Beach Resort on the spectacular Kohala Coast. The property sits at the edge of Waikoloa's Beach Golf Course and is just a stone's throw from the resort's King's Course. A few steps away are the King's Shops, offering a diverse array of dining and shopping opportunities.

Also nearby is the dramatic crescent shaped beach of Anaehoomalu Bay with its ancient fishponds. Published rates at these properties start at $215 per night for a one-bedroom apartment at the Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff; $210 per night for a one-bedroom at the Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona; and $325 per night for a two-bedroom villa at the new Outrigger Fairway Villas.

On Oahu, there are two Outrigger condo properties. The Outrigger Waikiki Shore has a one-of-a-kind location right on world-famous Waikiki Beach with fabulous views of the Pacific Ocean and magnificent sunsets. Here a one-bedroom unit starts at $335 per night. The Collection's newest condominium offering is the luxurious Outrigger Luana Waikiki with its stylish island-themed decor. It's bordered by Fort DeRussy Park, a 66-acre greenbelt that affords every floor spectacular ocean, city, park or mountain views. Rates at the Outrigger Luana Waikiki start at just $325 per night for a one-bedroom suite.

Outrigger's Island Explorer program is designed to get kids and their parents out discovering Hawaii's unique natural environment. When staying a minimum of three nights at any Outrigger Condominium Collection property in Hawaii, children ages 5 through 10 receive a colorful Island Explorer Backpack that includes a range of kid-oriented items, including mini-binoculars and sunglasses. A travel guide that outlines a wide range of family-oriented activities and attractions throughout the state is also included, as well as a series of Discovery Guides that help parents and kids explore and learn about various aspects of Hawaii on self-guided excursions. Produced in cooperation with the Curriculum Research & Development Group at the University of Hawaii, these guides are cleverly designed learning aids to help kids compile trip reports and learn more about Hawaii's oceans, mountains and unique culture.
