Iberostar Hotels & Resorts Focuses on Serving The Family Travel Market

A recent telephone survey entitled "Portrait of Family Travel" reported that 68 percent of surveyed parents viewed their children as ''very influential'' when selecting a family travel destination. Family members have increasingly demanding schedules, and kids remind them that family travel is an important part of having fun and staying connected. One of the ways children are assisting their busy parents is their involvement in researching family travel destination options.

The Iberostar Hotels & Resorts website has been designed to be of interest to both parents and children alike. As tweens(children ages 9-13) and teens surf the Internet, they often discover the ways in which the twelve all-inclusive Iberostar resorts can meet the needs of all generations. Iberostar's resorts offer warm sunshine, fun-filled beaches, endless water sports, nightlife and Lucys's Mini Club's entertaining youth activities. The Club has separate programs for children. The Mini Club is designed to appeal to ages 4-8; while the Maxi Club provides children ages 9-12 with age-appropriate activities and attractions.

Children's activities at the popular Lucy's Mini Club include painting, drawing, swimming, Olympic-style games, clay modeling and treasure hunting. The Maxi Club offers various sport activities such as ping-pong, volleyball, soccer, basketball and water polo. At night, Mini Club members can dance at the Snoopy Disco. Twice a week children participate in the nightly entertainment putting on an original show, involving acting, dancing and singing as their parents proudly look on.

The children's activities at Iberostar are based on the concept of "edu-entertaiment,"activities that actually teach the children while the kids believe they are simply having a great time. Children are not just confined to a room all day watching movies and playing video games they are outside, exploring and learning about the natural habitat that surrounds them on land and at sea. As their children are involved in the "edu-entertaiment,"parents can spend quality "grown up" time on their own. The added assurance that their children are carefully supervised allows them to relax while pursuing activities such as luxurious spa treatments, water and land sports, lounging poolside with an exotic cocktail in their hand, or dining at one of the resorts many specialty restaurants.

Iberostar's family travel approach has been designed to involve children. John Long, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Iberostar Hotels & Resorts Caribe, states "When children become involved in helping to chart the family's vacation course, it gives them a sense of pride, as well as a stake in the overall vacation experience. Our children's programs are designed with an emphasis on entertainment and subtle education techniques. Knowing that they've been involved in part of the decision-making process makes the children an integral part of the Iberostar community,

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts currently owns and operates 15 all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, and 60 hotels in Spain and the Mediterranean. The resorts are located on beaches in the Caribbean from the Dominican Republic to Cozumel and the Riviera Maya region of Mexico.
