Colorado's Snow Mountain Ranch Offers Family Camp This Summer
Ever wonder why kids have all the fun at camp each summer? This year, maybe it's time to find out. Take the kids and join other families in one of two four day sessions of Camp Chief Ouray's Family Camp at Colorado's Snow Mountain Ranch.
The YMCA of the Rockies is a nonprofit organization that owns and operates two year-round conference and family centers: Estes Park Center, adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, and Snow Mountain Ranch near Winter Park, Colo. It also provides traditional summer residential youth camp experiences at Camp Chief Ouray. The Estes Park Center has 860 acres and can accommodate 4,000 people. Snow Mountain Ranch has over 5,000 acres with a Nordic Center and can accommodate 2,500 people.
"Between work, bills and responsibilities, parents often forget that they are allowed to play, too,"said Marty Ferguson, Director of Camp Chief Ouray, YMCA of the Rockies. "We've set up four days of camp that's affordable, fun and specifically designed for families."
Parents, grandparents, teens and children can all enjoy traditional camp activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, archery, hiking, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding and special family programming. Family camp runs from July 13 to 16, 2005, and from September 2 to 5, 2005.
The price of family camp is $150 for adults ages 13 and older, $75 for children ages five to 12 and free for children under five years old. The price includes meals, lodging in a basic cabin and all activities. Families can upgrade to newer cabins that have running water for an extra $75.
