Hawaii's Grand Wailea Resort Caters to Kids and Teens This Summer

Making summer family travel vacation plans is easier this year thanks to specially created teen and kid programs offered at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa. Dedicated to satisfying the whole family, the Grand Wailea schedules a variety of programs and activities expressly for kids and teens all summer long. From iPod's and pedicures, popular Camp Grande, or Teen Spa Nights and Tsunami Dances, parents and kids alike can take advantage of the programs or just hang out at one of the resort's pools. Parents can choose to spend time with their children, or go off on their own for the day or to dinner, knowing their children will be active and safe.

Camp Grande

For kids, the ever popular, Camp Grande offers 20,000 square foot of pure fun. This "Kids Resort" within the resort hosts kids ages 5 --12 for half day, full-day and night camps that include activities like sand sculpting, nature walks, scavenger hunts, reef exploration and hula lessons or arts & crafts that include painting tiles or coconuts or making puka shell necklaces or leis. Night camp programs include "Walkie-Talkie Tag," sand crab hunting, movies in the theater or "Challenge Kickball" on the lawn.

Camp Grande's "Counselor in Training" program allows teens aged 13-17 to assist instructors and lead activities and games.

For children 4-and-under, Camp Grande offers two new rooms - the Rainbow Room features Tunnels of Fun, Climb and Slide Play Center and a 21-piece block set, which are all made of "soft play" material in bright colors. The Imaginary Room includes Lego's, building blocks, a play kitchen and a puppet show stand with friendly puppets. All children 4-and-under must be accompanied by an adult, or counselors can assist parents in finding a Nanny for a few hours or the duration of the day.

Keiki Spa
An ever-increasing trend at the Grand Wailea Resort is spa packages for adults, teens and children. Parents can enjoy the Hydrotherapy Terme and a treatment or massage knowing their teens and children are getting pampered in their own style. The Teen and Keiki spa menus have been expanded due to demand and offer treatments and packages that can take from 25 minutes to 3 hours.

Two spa programs just for keiki (children under 12) are the Wailea (for girls) and the Maui (for boys) with chocolate-coconut massages, facials, henna tattoos and more.

Teen Spa
Teens can enjoy the spa on their own or during a teen's night out. Popular teen treatments include the Wave Massage using hot lava stones and tropical lotions, tropical fruit scrub and honey sugar manicures. All of these treatments are part of spa programs created specifically for young adults. Teens can choose from a menu of massages, body scrubs, facials, manicures and pedicures and opt for a package, or create their own program.

Teens Night Out
Teens have several special events created just for them at Grand Wailea. Teens 13-and-up can enjoy run of Spa Grande during "Co-ed Teen Spa Night," dance the night away at the "Tsunami Teen Dance," or take part in an exercise class or strength training for teens.

Family Fun
There won't be any dancing during a pedicure, but everyone can still 'get their groove on' with a new addition - complimentary mini iPod's are available to go with a chocolate-coconut or honey-sugar pedicure at The Grand Design Salon at Spa Grande. The iPod's come with disposable headphones and are pre-loaded with music, allowing young guests to choose a hip mix of tracks from "chilled" to "loungey" to "upbeat" or "energized."

For some fun in the sun, the resort's acclaimed 2,000-foot long Wailea Canyon Activity Pool features nine pools on six different levels including the world's first water elevator, waterslides, roaring white water rapids, caves, grottos and a Tarzan pool with rope swing. At the "Bubbles" scuba diving and snorkeling program, kids (8 years and up) get a chance to explore underwater. And the "baby beach" offers a safe alternative for toddlers to frolic in the ocean with their parents.

Overlooking the southern shores of Maui, the Grand Wailea Resort's 40-acre property provides open spaces for the active vacationer, beauty for romantic getaways and fun for the whole family. The resort is situated on one of America's top beaches, featuring luxury accommodations, the action-packed 2,000-foot long Wailea Canyon Activity Pool, the unparalleled Spa Grande, the exquisite Seaside Chapel for weddings and vow renewals and an array of recreational activities including championship golf and tennis.

The Grand Wailea Resort has been repeatedly named one of the world's best resorts by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure. For further information and reservations, call your favorite travel professional or 1-800-888-6100, or visit the resort's Web site at http://www.grandwailea.com/.
