Ecoventura Offers Special Galapagos Islands Family Cruises
Introduce the family to the Galapagos Islands over school breaks or during the summer with Ecoventura, a family-owned small-ship adventure company.
Designated departures—scheduled over school breaks in the United States—offer families a wonderful opportunity to explore the Galapagos Islands. Known for their stunning beauty, wealth of marine resources, and plant and animal species found nowhere else on Earth, a trip to Galapagos will appeal to both adults and children.
Age-appropriate activities are planned based on the ages and number of children on board. Supervised water games, snorkeling and sea kayaking instruction are geared toward the younger set. Ecoventura provides clear bottom tandem kayaks and wetsuits, at no extra charge, plus the itinerary and small guide-to-passenger ratios ensure plenty of time for intimate visits to shore where guides emphasize outdoor activities including nature walks, snorkeling, kayaking and special interests such as photography, birdwatching, scuba diving and marine biology.
Kids can visit the bridge and learn about astronomy, navigational charts and even tie knots with the Captain. Naturalist guides present information on Ecuador ecology, geology and climate, including the history of the Galapagos Islands, the special law for Galapagos, conservation issues, the history of Charles Darwin, the marine reserve, the arrival and establishment of species in the area including marine mammals and reptiles, and so much more. Everyone will be having so much fun they won’t realize they are getting a history lesson.
Special parties are planned including movies and popcorn, games with prizes, drawing contest, ice cream sundaes, and a special King Neptune costume party and talent show. While the adults will enjoy the scrumptious meals including fresh tropical fruits and juices, beef medallions, duck supreme, smoked pork chops, fresh fish and seafood, the kids will enjoy a special menu planned to satisfy their taste buds.
On special family departures, children 7-11 receive a discount of 30% and children 12-14 receive a discount of 20%. No cruise discounts are available over the Christmas or New Years holidays. Children age 7-11 also receive 50% discount on the park entrance fee and the airfare to Galapagos.
Ecoventura’s fleet of 20-passenger first class motor yachts, the Eric, Flamingo & Letty offer tremendous value with a high level of comfort and service. All-inclusive amenities include cabin accommodation on board, all meals and snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, mineral water, Captain's welcome and farewell cocktail, guide services, shore excursions, use of wet suits, snorkeling equipment and sea kayaks and transfers in the Islands between the airport and dock. All yachts feature totally refurbished cabins with outside-facing windows or portholes, air conditioning and private bathrooms, and the lounges are equipped with 29” flat screen TV’s and DVD players.
A family trip over winter break, spring break, or in the summer is a wonderful opportunity to explore the magic of the Galapagos Islands.
