Wintergreen Resort Guarantees Cool Temperatures This Summer

Wintergreen Resort, located high atop the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, enjoys summer temperatures consistently 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the nearby cities of Richmond, Washington, D.C., or even Philadelphia, which have had summer temperatures ranging from the low 80’s to a sweltering 97 degrees for the past two summers. According to WeatherBug, the resort’s source of meteorological information, summer highs at Wintergreen averaged around 76 degrees in 2004 and 2005, by comparison.

As a result, Wintergreen Resort is offering the “Guaranteed Cool Summer Getaway” promotion July 5 through September 30, 2006. If the daily high temperature exceeds 85 degrees Fahrenheit at the resort’s mountaintop, Wintergreen will credit $100 to the guest’s bill at checkout. The “Getaway” promotion prerequisites include:

• A consecutive three-night minimum stay July 5 through September 30, 2006.
• Guests must be visiting on a Wintergreen Resort package. A complete list of packages is available on Wintergreen’s web site, www.wintergreenresort.com.
• Temperatures are determined by the official WeatherBug site located on the mountain at the resort and confirmed by the Director of Mountain Operations or his designee.
• The “Guaranteed Cool Summer Fun Getaway” must be requested at the time of reservation.
• Not available with group discounts.

For guests visiting on the promotion, Wintergreen Resort will automatically adjust their charges if mountain temperatures go above 85 degrees during their stay.
