Club Med Features Unique Teen Hangouts at Twelve Resorts Worldwide
On May 1, 2007, Club Med Cancun Yucatan will unveil the latest Passworld. Club Med Cancun Yucatan recently re-opened after $24 million in renovations as a family resort including programs for children ages four-10 years and a special Baby Welcome Program. In addition to these programs, Club Med Cancun Yucatan will offer the newest Passworld, the Club Med concept for teens.
Each Club Med Passworld is specifically designed to give teenage vacationers an independent, safe environment to meet and socialize in, with tailored activities for their age group such as theatre, sound mixing classes, jewelry making or graffiti work. Passworld participants are supervised in two separate age groups, 11 to 13 years and 14 to 17 years, in the exclusive areas built just for teens and 'tweens.
When Club Med Punta Cana unveiled The Ramp in 2005, teenage guests, their parents and Club Med staff took to it immediately. The concept proved so successful that this innovative space dedicated solely to teens and 'tweens set in motion a worldwide Club Med concept. Called Club Med Passworld, the concept provides unique space and activities for adolescents in resorts throughout Europe, Africa and Latin America.
To date, twelve Club Med resorts worldwide have adopted the Passworld concept, with each location boasting a unique theme and atmosphere. Club Med plans to eventually roll out the Passworld concept to all resorts that accommodate families.
"Currently we offer the Junior's Club Med which caters to adolescents at every resort that has children's programs," comments Cedric Gobilliard, Club Med CEO North America. "Passworld, however is a concept that focuses on adolescents' desire to be independent. We grant them a separate physical space to call their own-where no adults, except G.O.s are allowed. Slowly we will work to upgrade the junior's clubs with Passworld-to provide all our teen guests with the space and freedom they crave."
The 12 Club Med Passworld programs each boast a unique theme that caters to teenage interests. The resorts and themes are:
- Wash Station, Cancun Yucatan (Mexico)
- Great Barrier Reef, Lindeman Isle (Australia)
- The Souk, Djerba Meridiana (Tunisia)

- La Piscine, Les Almadies (Senegal)
