Families Can Make Special Memories Building a Boat Together at Basin Harbor Club
When it comes to family fun and making lasting memories, for sailing many families, it may not get any better than this!
Basin Harbor Club on scenic Lake Champlain has teamed up with the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum to offer a three night, four day “Build-a-Boat” package that enables the family to work together to build a seaworthy, 12-foot, Bevin rowing skiff that will be ready for exploring the lake. Timed around Father’s Day, the package is a great opportunity to spend quality time together as a family.
Guests complete and launch their own boat using a traditionally designed boat kit from the Alexandria Seaport Foundation. After a good day’s work, guests will retreat to their two-bedroom lakeside cabin at the Basin Harbor Club to relax before dining at one of the resort’s restaurants.
The Build-a-Boat package is available June 5-8. Rates are based on a family of four and include participation in the three-day boat building workshop, all materials, accommodations, and breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The package starts at $2,222.
Basin Harbor Club was established in 1886 by Ardelia Beach and has remained family owned for 120 years. Today, guests are greeted by fourth generation hosts, Pennie Beach and Robert H. Beach, Jr. Originally a 225-acre working farm catering to summer boarders, the resort has expanded to cover 700 acres of Vermont‘s most pristine land along the shores of Lake Champlain, encompassing the main lodge, cottages, a private golf course, spectacular gardens, a 3,200 foot grass airstrip, and the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Lake Champlain.
