NCL features 3 day cruises on the Majesty to the Bahamas. The ship sails out of Miami and visits Nassau and Key West. The Majesty was recently stretched. She now has a second pool, dining room, new casino, a coffee bar and Le Bistro restaurant.
These cruises are especially recommended for active families and those who are particularly sports oriented. Since Norwegian is one of the few lines offering guaranteed in-cabin babysitting, they are also an excellent choice for those with small children. The fact that kids under 2 cruise free, combined with the guaranteed in-cabin babysitting, make this line a natural for those with infants and toddlers.
Kids Crew, a year-round youth program, is available on all ships except the Marco Polo, which concentrates on extended, around-the-wrold cruises.
Children are divided into four age groups: 3 to 5; 6 to 9; 10 to 12; and 13 to 17 years. Activities include sports competitions, dances, arts and crafts, and, in the Caribbean, the popular "Circus at Sea" program in which children learn circus routines, juggling, and clown acts.
Those under 13 years old must wear a name badge which also has the child's age; cabin number; allergies; whether the child has permission to leave the program on his or her own or must be picked up by a parent; as well as the child's lifeboat number.
The teen program operates for ages 13 to 17. Teen activities include basketball tournaments, pool/jacuzzi parties, trivia contests and teen dances which are offered most nights in the disco an hour before the disco opens to adults.
The program operates on sea days from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M.; 2:30 to 4:30 P.M.; and from 8 to 10 P.M. Teen programs hours vary.
Rates for a standard inside cabin for a 3 night cruise start at $443 for the 1st and 2nd passenger and kids ages 3-17 are $203.
