This is the granddaddy of all children's museums, and a "don't miss" for families planning a trip to Boston. Even if your kids don't typically like museums (like ours!), you'll find it hard to tear them away from this one. We spent over 3 hours at The Children's Museum on our last visit to Boston, and even with all the other fun things we did in the city, the kids ranked it as the highlight of their trip.
Our kids loved the huge climbing structure hanging mid-air in the museum. They had a blast climbing on it, and made friends with others along the way. Other favorite exhibits were "Teen Tokyo", where kids can learn what life is like for their Japanese peers; "Raceways", allowing kids to explore the physical laws of the universe by rolling golf balls down tracks; and the "Science Playground" with its metal and woodworking workshop. Infants and toddlers will love the museum's "Playspace", a developmental play area featuring castles, houses, and lots of nooks and hiding places.
Once you've finished at The Children's Museum, it's an easy walk to the Computer Museum or the New England Aquarium, two other wonderful places for families in Boston.
