Resort Overview: This is the Midwest's largest year-round resort. It is located on 1,400 acres in the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula along the shores of Lake Michigan's East Grand Traverse Bay. The resort features a full-service spa, championship golf courses, children's program and shopping complex. They have been recognized by Conde Nast Traveler as a Top 20 Mainland Resort and Top 50 Worldwide Travel Destination.

Accommodations: Grand Traverse features a total of 660 guest rooms, including hotel rooms, suites and 1-3 bedroom condominiums. Amenities include television with Nintendo, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer and many more comforts of home. The condos are located along the fairways and the sandy shores of the Bay. Rates start at $139 for a room in the Main Resort to $249 for a 3 bedroom unit. Hot Dates are available for great savings. Check the web site for details.

Restaurants: Sweetwater Cafe is a casual, family restaurant serving local in-season specialties. They features an open kitchen and a family-friendly menu of breakfast specialties, sandwiches, salads, pastas, and hearty entrees, including a salad bar. A children's menu is available. Trillium offers fine dining in a comfortable atmosphere overlooking the lush forests, sun-drenched beaches and glimmering shores of Lake Michigan. It is also a lounge and night club. The menu has a Mediterranean theme. The Grille is located in the Clubhouse and serves family favorites like soups and sandwiches, appetizers and salads. Enjoy the view of the 18th green from the deck. The Beach Club serves sandwiches and beverages poolside at the Shores. Jack's is a golf themed lounge and Afternine is a stand located on The Bear golf course. Room service is also available.

Children's Programs: Grand Traverse's "Cub Camp" is offered daily from 8am-5pm. Guests ages 6-12 can participate. The camper counselor ratio is 10:1. There is licensed daycare in the Cub House for kids ages 6 months-5 years. The staff have backgrounds in teaching and recreation fields and are certified in First Aid and CPR. They blend fun with learning for a great camp experience. Activities include sports clinics (golf, tennis, swimming, or fitness), sports activities (soccer, softball, volleyball and field games and theme activities (Time Machine allows campers to explore life in a different century). Half-day sessions are $24 and full-day sessions are $40. Weekly rates are $125. Lunches can be purchased for $3 per day or kids can bring a brown bag. 24 hour nanny services are also available.

Golf: Grand Traverse currently offers three 18-hole championship courses and a fourth is in the planning stages. The Bear was designed by Jack Nicklaus. It is a par-72 course featuring Scottish links. Spruce Run, an 18 hole course was designed by William Newcomb. This par-70 course winds along the hills overlooking East Grand Traverse Bay. The Wolverine was designed by Gary Player opened in May, 1999. This is Player's first signature course in Michigan. Guests can take private or group lessons at the Jim McLean Golf School. Specialty lessons for juniors and women are also available.

Tennis: Grand Traverse has four outdoor and five indoor tennis courts. The courts are surfaced with Deco-Turf II.

Swimming: Grand Traverse has one outdoor pool and two indoor pools. One has a four-lane lap pool. The are located on 250 miles of the Lake Michigan shore line for swimming and water pleasure.

Skiing: Grand Traverse's Nordic Center features two kilometers of cross-country ski trails.

Other Activities and Amenities: The Spa provides guests with treatment areas, relaxation room, saunas, aerobics studio, yoga, workout machines and weight room. Other activities available at Grand Traverse include several hundred acres of hiking trails, 100 acre nature area, water sports including Jet Skis, pedal boats, Orvis Fly Fishing school and the Tower Gallery of Shops.
