Resort Overview: Northstar-at-Tahoe is a 2,500 acre year-round resort located just 6 miles from Lake Tahoe. Guests can enjoy the lake, the Sierra Nevada mountains and its proximity to Nevada's entertainment and casinos. The Nevada stateline is only 7 miles away. Families can enjoy Northstar for reunions, weddings, or just lots of fun in the snow or under summer skies.
Accommodations: Northstar's lodging facilities include more than 500 on-site units ranging from hotel-type rooms to condos (studios to four bedrooms) to slopeside mountain homes (three, four and five bedrooms). All feature fireplaces, fully equipped kitchens and some have balconies overlooking the mountains or wooded landscape. The rentals are all within minutes of the lifts and are serviced by a free shuttle system. Package deals are available on their website.
Restaurants: Northstar has five restaurants serving everything from sushi, tri-tip barbecue to grilled salmon stuffed with pesto. Hamburgers and hotdogs are always available for the kids. Martis Valley Grille is a casual family restaurant with a children's menu. The Village Food Company is a gourmet deli with daily specials, made-to-order sandwiches. Video rentals are available here too. Pedro's specialities are pizza and calzones. A Pizza Phone is located mid-mountain to allow guests to call in their pizza order before they head to the Village. Timbercreek Restaurant servesa menu of California-American cuisine. Their children's menu will satisfy even the pickiest eater. The Lodge at Big Springs is located mid-mountain and is a great spot to watch skiers and snowboarders. The cafeteria menu is delicious for the whole family. The Summit Deck Grille offers panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. Specialities include fajitas, quesadillas,salads, spicy chili and stir fry station.
Children's Programs: Northstar's Licensed Child Care Center, Minors' Camp, offers a day camp for children ages 2-10 (children must be toilet trained). It is open Monday through Saturday. The full-day program, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., is $45 per child. Half-day sessions, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., are $27 per child. Both full- and half-day programs include lunch. There are learn-to-ski lessons available for kids ages 3-6. Other workshops are offered for kids ages 5-12.
Golf: Northstar's par 72 golf course offers 18 challenging holes and is comprised of two distinctly different nine hole courses. The Front 9 is wide open and offers spectacular meadow views while the Back 9 is technical and tree-lined and poses a critical test of golfing skills.
Tennis: Northstar-at-Tahoe has 10 courts. Lessons and tennis camps are offered to guests and taught by their resident USPTA pro.
Swimming: Northstar has a junior Olympic-size outdoor heated pool, outdoor lap pool and children's wading pool.
Skiing: Northstar features 63 runs and 13 lifts.
Other Activities and Amenities: Other activities available at Northstar-at-Tahoe include more than 100 miles of marked trails for mountain biking, flyfishing on Sawmill Lake, horseback riding, guided nature walks and Adventure Park/Ropes Course. Polaris Park is a nighttime adventure center with dining, tubing, halfpipe, music and snowtoys. The souvenir photo shop is a great place to buy vacation memories.
