Resort Overview: This attractive 200-acre island plantation resort is located on Hutchinson Island, Florida, just a two-hour drive from Orlando and Miami. This barrier island is only moderately developed, and is located between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean near Stuart, Florida. The resort has a Key West-style feel to it, with pointed tin roofed buildings and 1,400 cabbage and coconut palms. The miles of shell-colored beaches here are not particularly crowded, and summer visitors will find sea turtles nesting in the sands. The resort's ecological emphasis is a real attraction for families and nature lovers, as the resort is situated on the third largest loggerhead sea turtle nesting beach in the Western Hemisphere. The riverside estuary of this resort teems with wildlife. Visitors will find West Indian manatees, loggerhead and leatherback sea turtles, and over 150 bird species living in the St. Lucie Inlet State Park. In addition to its abundance of nature, the resort offers guests golf, tennis, swimming pools, an expansive marina, water sports, fitness facilities, restaurants, and a children's program.
