Franklyn D. Resort

Families we've talked with rave about this resort -- especially those families with small children. Many resorts cater to the 5-12 year old bunch, but it's hard to find properties who really do a lot for those with infants and toddlers. This resort is different.

At the FDR, a Girl Friday who's trained in childcare, housekeeping and cooking is assigned to each family for their entire stay. She's there to make your vacation wonderful, whether that includes feeding the baby, doing the laundry, cooking for the entire family, or watching all the children while you enjoy a few stolen moments of privacy. Families are housed in their own villa, which includes 1 to 3 bedrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, living room and balcony. Being a totally family-oriented resort, they've thought of all the little things like baby gates at the tops of stairways and shallow, protected beaches for the young ones. Rates include meals, drinks, and a variety of excursions.

Don't typecast this resort as just for families with little ones. It's not. There are plenty of activities for parents and all age groups of children, even hard-to-please teens. The Kiddie Center is open from 9 a.m. 'till 10 p.m. daily, and is well-equipped with lots of toys, games, and a variety of computers. There's lots of nightly entertainment, and tons of organized activities for kids and parents. The beach is on the small side, but two pools and tennis are available.
