Wisconsin: See Cranes

If you're going to the Dells this summer, you'll have the opportunity to see lots of animals. Visit the International Crane Foundation (located in Baraboo near Circus World) to see one of the world's largest collections of cranes. The foundation is continuing its work with other nations to save seven of the 15 species of cranes in existence. You can see a pair of each of the 15 species, as well as take a tour to view crane chicks and graceful adult birds. For more information, call (608) 356-9462 or visit www.savingcranes.org

If your children have always loved Bambi, take them to the Wisconsin Deer Park. Here, they'll have the opportunity to interact with over 150 deer, including black deer, white-tailed deer, and others. Feeding and petting the deer will be one of the highlights of the trip. In addition to deer, you'll have the opportunity to view elk and buffalo as well. But remember, don't miss the chance to see the little spotted fawns in the nursery! For more information, call (608) 253-2041 or check out www.dells.com/wisdeerpark
