Lake Lure is a beautiful manmade lake located in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. The dam creating Lake Lure was built in 1927. Since that time, families have been coming to the area to enjoy activities on the lake, including boating, waterskiing, tubing and fishing. Camping is available at spots around the lake.
For a less rustic experience, families often go to the Lake Lure Inn. In operation since 1927 when the dam was completed, the Inn is famous for its fine service, distinctive decor, and southern hospitality. Families will appreciate a number of the Inn's conveniences including the pool, a shuttle and tour service, a bakery and coffee shop, a convenience store with a snack bar, and a restaurant. The Inn can accommodate up to 50 guests in their comfortable rooms, many of which overlook the lake, mountains or the pool. The dining room at the Inn has hosted presidents, writers and film stars, and dining here is superb. Don't miss the Sunday Brunch complete with homemade Belgian waffles and omelets made to order.
Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy themselves here, as Lake Lure is home to an abundance of trout, bass and catfish. Water sports, boat rentals, hiking, fishing, golf, tennis and horseback riding are also available in close proximity to the Inn. Families will love the nearby Beach Water Works with its waterslides, water cannons and bumper boats. Chimney Rock Park is just a mile away as well, and is an excellent spot for family hiking. Climb to the top of the "Rock" for great views and the perfect backdrop for a family photo.
