Priest Lake is a 25 mile lake in northern Idaho, and is connected to Upper Priest Lake by a scenic, slow moving thoroughfare. The lake, located at an elevation of 2,500 feet and set in unspoiled surroundings encircled by the Selkirk Mountain Range, provides 80 miles of shoreline with sandy beaches and seven islands. The large amount of public land surrounding the lake ensures its natural beauty for years to come.
Families vacationing in this area typically rent vacation homes, camp, or stay at one of the small bed and breakfasts or resorts in the area. One of the best for families is Hill's Resort. This property has 48 fully equipped cabins and has been run for generations by the Hill family. The resort has previously been selected as Family Circle Magazine as "Family Resort of the Year". Accommodations range from lakeside and forest view cabins to condominiums and chalets. Hill's Resort is open year-round.
Waterskiing, kayaking, golfing, excellent fishing, boating, picking huckleberries and tennis are favorite summer activities here. Cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are popular in winter. The resort's restaurant, overlooking beautiful Priest Lake, has received national recognition for its excellent food. Many of the family recipes have been featured in national cookbooks. Some of the specialties include Baby Back Ribs of Pork, Oysters Escondida, Margarita Shrimp, and Huckleberry Pie. The restaurant is open daily mid May through mid October, December 26 through January 1, and weekends all other months of the year.
