The inn was built in 1918 as a temporary home for the immigrant workers of the Kohler Company (the famous plumbing manufacturer), the boardinghouse" served as a place where English and citizenship classes were taught-a genuine "American Club."

Activities include: Sports Core health club, River Wildlife, 800 acres of private woods for hiking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, trap shooting, canoeing, cross-country skiing, ice skating and golf course. Nearby: antiquing, lake charter fishing, Kettle Moraine State Forest, Road America (world-class Indy style auto racing).

The Immigrant serves delicious gourmet food and the pub room is great for family lunches. There are six restaurants and dining rooms with many choices, even for the fussiest eater
