Website: www.mohonk.com

Mohonk is a 127 year-old 2,200 acre National Historic Landmark resort. Quaker twins Albert and Alfred Smiley foresaw a peaceful retreat, a tribute to nature where all could live in harmony. They purchased the property in 1869 and their dreams came true. The innkeeper is the great-grandnephew of Albert Smiley. It has been owned by the Smiley family since the beginning.

Activities include: hiking, fitness classes, tennis, golf, horseback riding, carriage rides, saunas, square and ballroom dancing. There are also history and nature lectures offered. Mohonk has many theme programs that run throughout the year.

The food is delicious and there is plenty of it. There is a full American plan and afternoon tea. A children's menu is available. They will work up a good appetite from the extensive program which includes: arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, games, and nature hikes.
