This lodge is located in the Great Smokies. It was a popular mountain retreat before white-water rafting in the Nantahala Gorge became a big attraction. There are lots of rafters around the inn but there is an outfitter's store across the road if you want to dress the part.
Activities include: hiking trails, horseback riding, rafting, boating, horseshoes, pool, volleyball, tennis, badminton, Ping-Pong and antique-and-craft shop.
There is a breathtaking view of the mountains from the dining room. The food is tasty "down home" American, Thanksgiving-everyday cooking. Children enjoy the good familiar tastes offered. The homemade jam is delicious and is sold in the gift shop to be enjoyed at home too.
