As host to the original "Love Boat", it's no wonder the Princess Cruises are an American favorite. Princess Cruises currently operates 11 family friendly ships, with four more scheduled to join the fleet by 2006. While Princess cruises to every continent except Antarctica, favorite family cruise destinations include the Caribbean, Alaska and Europe.
Always an innovator in the onboard cruising experience, Princess has continued to expand and improve its kids and teens offerings. The line's Princess Kids program offers activities for children ages 3-17, including Princess Pelicans (ages 3-7), Princess Pirateers (ages 8-12) and Off Limits (ages 13-17). Activities include programs designed by the California Science Center and the National Wildlife Federation, in addition to others. Princess' Youth Centers provide a full schedule of activities for participating youngsters on ports days, as well as a complimentary dining room lunch. Group babysitting services for children ages 3-12 are also available each evening from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Teens can now take advantage of Princess' new Teen Spa program, featuring an exclusive selection of specialized spa packages developed especially for younger passengers. Offerings include a range of fun ways for teens to feel pampered, including everything from manicures and mini-facials to "hip and trendy" treatments such as henna tattoos, body and hair glitter, face paint and body art. Special packages even allow teens to share the spa experience with a friend or enjoy mother/daughter time.
Aboard the Caribbean Princess, for example, teens ages 13 and older can avail themselves of spa treatments at the Lotus Spa. Guests must be 16 years of age or older to enjoy the fitness facility, but Salon Services are available for guests of all ages. Parents must be in attendance in the Spa for teen massage and body treatments, but a wide variety of other services are also offered for teens including:
Lotus Youth Facial: Teens will learn the importance of proper skincare in this informative 50 minute facial treatment. Lotus Spa Professionals will teach teens how to be proactive in preventing blemishes, fighting the effects of free radicals, and protecting the skin from the sun's harmful rays.
CreativeSpa Manicure or Pedicure: Replenish hands and feet with this 25-minute nourishing manicure or pedicure. Citrus and ocean extracts combine to replenish the skin and nails, giving them the needed moisture and shaping to look their best at the pool or at the disco.
Sea Foam Pedicure: Utilizing the powers of ocean extracts, the Spa implements body treatment techniques in this 55-minute pedicure, resulting in an intensely relaxing experience. A self-heating mud is applied to the feet, melting away stress and moisturizing the skin. The treatment is finished with nail shaping, buffing and polish.
Solar Conditioning Manicure: Sweet almond oil and sea salts combine to gently exfoliate and polish the skin, followed by a moisturizing shea butter massage that restores hydration to the hands. This 55-minute treatment finishes with nail shaping, buffing and polish.
Guests can pre-book spa treatments in advance, as soon as their booking number has been received. For a complete menu of services available in the Lotus Spa, download the online brochure available on the Princess website: Princess: The Onboard Experience.
