FTN readers have told us that vacationing at home can be a fun experience for the entire family -- not to mention one of the best budget family escapes around! Here are a few ideas to help plan your trip:
** Pretend that your house is a hotel room,
** Pitch a tent in your yard or basement
** Go out to eat at a restaurant you've always wanted to try
** Have a teddy bear picnic on your porch, or in the living room if it's a rainy day,
** See a movie or play games -- inside or outdoors
** Take a day trip to a local park or attraction.
Check your local newspaper's "Weekend" section for cool activities around town. Both GoCityKids and Digital City are excellent sources of ideas for things to do with children in your hometown.
Get in the car and take a day trip for something different. Let each family member make a suggestion for where to go or what to do. Write ideas or thoughts down on pieces of paper and draw one out each day. After this vacation at home, you and your family will look at your hometown differently, and you'll have developed some great new ideas for having fun in and around your neighborhood.
