Resort Overview: Grand Targhee has been well known for it's Winter skiing but during the Summer, Grand Targhee offers families summer fun and terrific activities in the same proportions as our superb winter recreation. Located in Targhee National Forest, Grand Targhee is the main gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. Surrounded by fields of wildflowers, the resort features panoramic vistas panning three states, with incredible views of the Grand Teton peak which rises to almost 14,000 feet. Guests can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking, fishing, and more. And the resort is only a beautiful 45-minute drive from Jackson Hole, WY and 12 miles east of Driggs, Idaho.
Accommodations: Grand Targhee offers families several options for their stay. The Targhee Lodge: has Motel accommodations that feaure Western design. Sleeps 4 with 2 queen beds, bath with tub and/or shower, color TV, telephone and coffee maker. The Teewinot Lodge - has Hotel accommodations feature authentic Western design with lodgepole furnishings. Sleeps 2-4. Main lobby with fireplace and hot tub. Full bath with tub, color TV, telephone and coffee maker. The Sioux Lodge condominiums: feature Western design with lodgepole furnishings, an adobe fireplace and semi-private balcony. Each unit also includes a living room, stocked kitchenette, full bath with tub, color TV and a telephone. Studio: 1 level, sleeps 4, 1 queen Murphy bed, 1 bunk bed. Loft: Bi-level unit with open loft, sleeps 4. 1 double bed and 1 bunk bed. Two bedroom: 2-story unit with 1 and 1/2 bath, sleeps 8. 1 queen Murphy bed, 1 queen bed, 2 bunk beds.Grand Targhee also offers families many great deals this summer season including their "Family of Four Package" Includes mountainside lodging for 2 nights, breakfast for 4 each morning and 1 complimentary scenic chairlift ride and 1 hour horseback ride for each person. Restaurants: All restaurants are located right in the base village, a minute's walk from lodges, shops and lifts. Skadi's - Named for the Scandinavian goddess of snow, features contemporary American and Continental fare served in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Chef's specials will be added to the menu daily. A children's menu will be available for family dining. Cocktails, specialty beers and an expanded wine selection are also available. Skadi's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Trap Bar & Grill - Grand Targhee's legendary Apres Ski spot features lunch, snacks, and dinner served indoors or out on our sunny deck. Features a large selection of microbrews, cocktails and wine. Live music and big screen sports provide plenty of entertainment. General Store- A quick stop store for food, snacks, beverages, magazines and household staples for lodging guests and day visitors. Great selection of domestic and micro-beers by the bottle, six pack or case.
Children's Programs: The Kid's Club is a state certified childcare facility conveniently located in the base area. Their professional staff is specially trained to care for children from 2 months to 5 years and provide fun and creative activities designed to keep children happy and entertained during their stay. Snowsport lessons are available for children age 3 or older in combination with childcare. The ratio is 3:1. (Providers to children). Kid's Club Rates: Infant Care (2 mos. - 2 yrs.); Full day - $42, Half Day - $30; Kid's Club Child Care (3 yrs. - 5 yrs.); Full day - $38, Half Day - $26.
Golf: Guests can play 9-holes in nearby Alta and more world-class golf courses are just a short drive away in Jackson Hole, WY.
Horseback Riding: The folks at Bustle Creek Outfitters offer guests complete horseback riding services with the flexibility to fit any schedule. You'll enjoy mountainous backcountry which offers beautiful panoramas, endless vistas, mountain lakes and a variety of wildlife. Full day trips always include a hearty trail lunch. Rates from $22-$150.00. Don't forget to try the "Chuckwagon Cookout" a treat for the whole family. You will be prepared a hearty dutch oven dinner while waiting, you can enjoy a friendly game of horse shoes or volleyball or just relaxing by the campfire. Other Activities and Amenities: The Targhee Institute is a nonprofit organization created to increase educational and cultural opportunities in the Greater Yellowstone Area by offering daily programs for kids ages 6 - 12. Classes run from June 19 through August 17, 2000 The program start at $32. Targhee Institute activities may include the climbing wall, horseback riding, swimming and chairlift rides. Kids will also enjoy performing experiments, taking exciting field trips and playing outdoor games. Courses offered include: Nature Art, Forest Journey, True Stories of Plants and Animals, Splash-Drip-Drip-Gulp, Mad Scientists, Inspector Detector, and Old Ways and Ancient Knowledge. The summer program offered for kids is the Science Explorers, for $88 per 4-day week (Mon. - Thurs.), with a daily guest drop-in rate of $32. Other onsite activities include: basketball, horseshoes, volleyball, Spa, climbing wall; Adventure Park Rope Center; Off site activities include: scenic or whitewater trips down the Snake River, glider rides and balloon flights, fishing, rodoes and guided tours provided by Grand Targhee to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.
