In this highly automated plant, you'll have the opportunity to watch as machines and ovens produce thousands of potato chips, pretzels, corn chips, cheese curls, popcorn, corn chips, and other snack foods. You'll start with an award-winning video perfect for families and young children, in which Chipper the Chipmunk takes two children on a tour of the Herr's factory.
Then it's on to the factory, where you'll be able to watch pretzel twists being loaded into huge ovens, and see chips being made. You'll have a birds-eye view of the entire process, from the loading of the raw ingredients through slicing, cooking, seasoning and bagging. It's fascinating to watch the machines doing all the work.
Best of all, you'll be able to taste potato chips hot off the conveyer belt. They're fabulous!
Open: Tours are offered on the hour Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Friday at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Closed on holidays.
Age Limits: None.
Cost: Free.
Reservations: Reservations are strongly suggested, but walk-ins will be accommodated if space permits.
