Louisville Slugger

You may not have recognized the name, but this company is the manufacturer of the famous "Louisville Slugger" bat. This tour should be a "don't miss" for anyone in your family who's a baseball fan. PowerBilt golf clubs are made here as well.

On this factory tour, you'll be able to watch as billets of northern white ash are turned into baseball bats. A card in front of each automatic lathe lists the players who use the model of bat being made by the machine. You'll also be able to see selected models of professional bats being hand turned.

Branders sear the trademark, the player's autograph, and the model number onto the wood of each bat. It's the highlight of the visit. While you're visiting the factory, you'll also be able to tour the company's museum filled with baseball memorabilia and purchase merchandise at the souvenir shop.

Open: Tours are given hourly weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and again at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The factory is closed on holidays, the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, and for two weeks in late June or early July.

Age Limits: None.

Cost: Free.

Reservations: Not required unless your group is larger than 24 people.
