HersheyPark gives families, good, clean, fun. A world-class theme park boasting more than 55 rides in a beautiful 110-acre setting. With eight thrill-filled roller coasters, six drenching water rides, more than 20 delightful kiddie rides, restaurants, snack shops, games, and gift shops, you are in for a real treat. If you're looking for entertainment, some of the top names in the business take center stage weekly. Top country acts, rock-n-roll groups, Broadway-caliber song and dance reviews, strolling shows and even a dolphin and sea lion show perform here to rave reviews. A quick walk across the bridge from the park is ZooAmerica, North American Wildlife Park, included with your one-price admission to HersheyPark (when entered from within the Park). This pristine 11-acre zoo is home to more than 200 animals native to North America. Even if you're not into scary rides, you can have a great time at Hershey. There's the "Chocolate Factory Tour Ride" which shows how chocolate is made (you even get free samples!), and a wonderful carousel. An added attraction for chocolate lovers - you can buy cold Hershey bars in the parks vending machines!
What's New: This year's newest coaster is Lightening Racer. The first racing/dueling coaster in the United States, this coaster is a double track wooden roller coaster with two staggered lifts approximately 90 feet for each lift. The ride is constructed with Southern Yellow Pine wood. Each track is approximately 3,400 feet in length and includes fifteen drops. As riders enter the station, they will be able to choose which train they want to ride - enabling them to race with or against their friends and family at speeds exceeding 51 mph and gravitational forces in excess of 3.6 g. The 24 passenger "Millennium Flyer" trains will begin the ride simultaneously, but seconds into the ride the trains will begin their race - careening through high speed turns with banked angles in excess of 60 degrees. The two tracks race side by side and then curve to face each other, creating a "duel." Just as the riders come face-to-face with the opposing train, the tracks split, in a near-miss. The tracks enter a dueling syphon drop where the two trains are sucked within a mere few feet of each other. The trains will then encounter "sideswipe alley" and two diabolical and dueling turns where they pass each other with a combined speed in excess of 70 mph. As the trains race toward their finish line, they speed toward a rushing waterfall; the tracks swerve and the riders avoid being drenched, but are misted from the cooling waters. The trains then race back into the station. At the conclusion of the 2 minute 20 second ride, the winning train is declared, the passengers greet their rivals, and disembark.
