This 1,000 acre ranch over a mile high in the Great Smokies is a very special place for parents and children alike. The scenery is breathtaking, and the relaxed atmosphere is just perfect for a family vacation. Between horseback riding and meals, you'll still have to make sure to sneak in some time for hiking the mountains, playing tennis, or trout fishing. Close-by you'll find sapphire and gemstone mines (kids love these!), the Cherokee Indian Reservation, and lots of lakes and streams. Several golf courses are also located nearby.
During the winter months, you can do some downhill skiing on the slopes about a mile away. This resort is highly family oriented, but is only suitable for families with children over 6 years of age.
Cataloochee Ranch is open from April through November and December 26 through March 1 for skiing season.
