Want to get away on a budget ranch vacation? This may be the destination for you. Deer Forks is a 14,000 acre working cattle ranch. You can stay in one of the cabins on the property and enjoy fishing in the trout streams, hiking, riding (costs extra - but not much), lounging by the pond, or just generally relaxing.
Guests can prepare their own meals and get up when they like. Horseback riding is a popular morning event. Afternoons are free for hiking, trout fishing, horseshoes, volleyball, birdwatching or touring the Douglas areas scenic and historic sites. Children enjoy playing in the mountain streams. In the spring fed pond by the lawn are tame trout, toads and ducks. Plenty of reading materials and family games are available in the guest houses. They also offer a Children's Program in the afternoon.
Accommodations include guesthouses with 2 bedrooms, one with queen bed, and private baths with tub and shower. Kitchens are equipped except food. No daily maid service; linens and supplies are furnished. Minimum two day stay recommended. Prices are adults: $50/night or $300/week. Children under age 16 are half price on accommodations and meals.
Kids will love experiencing ranch life, milking cows and feeding farm animals.
Deer Forks accepts guests from June through mid-September.
