Want to go on a cattle drive? If you're an experienced rider, this may be the place. The Tarantino family operates this 200-acre cattle ranch in the Catskill Mountains about 100 miles north of New York City. The resort caters to families of all riding abilities, and offers a variety of riding experiences as well as other activities. There are nursery programs and day camps for kids, a teen program, and lots of other child-centered features including many farm animals for petting, and pony rides. Sports facilities and evening entertainment are offered, and big home-cooked meals are served three times a day. The Tarantinos are very proud not only of their Arabian horses, but also of the variety of cattle raised on this ranch.
Accomodations range from standard two double bed rooms to country cottages with 1-3 bedrooms and a living room. All rooms are connected to Lobby, Dining Rooms, Niteclub, Indoor Pool, Day Camp, Arcade and Gym by air conditioned/heated hallways. Each room has private bath, telephones, color cable TV, individual temperature controls (a/c heat), and daily maid service.
Rates start at $150/night per adult for a standard room to $225/night per adult for a cottage stay. They also offer family specials and an early summer discount for stays June 24-July 8. (This is a four-night minimum).
Pinegrove is open all year, and a variety of packages and children's discounts are offered. Children under 4 always stay free in their parents' rooms.
