MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
University of California
Berkeley, CA 94720
(510) 642-1821

Welcome to UCMP!

Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park story line of obtaining dinosaur DNA from ancient insects in amber has some real basis in fact. Here at the University of California at Berkely, Dr. George O. Ponier did, in fact, find DNA in ancient insects in amber -- and may have been one of the inspirations for Crichton's best-selling works.

This museum has enough fantastic exhibits to satisfy even the most avid dinosaur lover. A small admissions fee is charged, and a gift shop and food are also available.
