MASTODON STATE PARK
5050 Oakland Avenue
St. Louis, MO 63110

The "bone beds" here at Mastodon State Park have yielded some great discoveries, including a mammoth skeleton with a spearhead lodged in its side. This find helped to establish the man and mammoth existed together at the same time. Fossils of extinct Ice Age mammals, especially mastodons, have been found at this site since the early nineteenth century. A marked path will help you find the paleontologists' dig sites.

There is a small fee for admission to this park, and both a gift shop and food are available.
