This is one of the best museums in the world, and a true "don't miss" for any dinosaur lover or aspiring paleontologist. The amount of dinosaur material here is staggering. The museum has three dinosaur halls showcasing a large collection of mounted dinosaur skeletons including Tyrannosaurus rex, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, and Barosaurus. Leave plenty of time to explore this museum, and don't pass up the collection of prehistoric mammals and the exhibit on early hominids.
If you have a bit more time in New York, you may want to stop by Lake Champlain to see if you can add your name to those who have sighted "Champ", a supposed relative of Scotland's Loch Ness Monster. Whether or not you believe the in current existence of sea monsters, the area's "Champ Day" in August is a fun one for dino lovers. For more information, call the Moriah Chamber of Commerce in Port Henry at (518) 546-7261.
