Resort Overview: Durango is a great famly resort. Because they are #1 for winter weather, with overnight snowfalls followed by bluebird days. Because of the light, dry powder that falls on our stair-stepped slopes. Because the people here are small town friendly, while the our mountain is bigger than most. And for all the other reasons that Durango’s early residents suspected word might get out.
Durango Mountain Resort features 75 trails across more than 2,500 acres of terrain.
Purgatory’s terrain is 23% beginner, 51% intermediate, and 26% advanced / expert. An average of 260 inches of snow a year (over 21 feet!), blankets our mountain, and 11 lifts including the new Purgatory Village Express high-speed, six person super chair, mean there’s rarely a lift line.
The Columbine Beginners’ Area, served by its own lifts, is easily accessible to the rest of the resort. The Columbine area has its own ticket office and restaurant, and gives first timers a fun and friendly arena for learning the in’s and out’s of skiing or snowboarding.
