Resort Overview: Squaw Valley is often thought of as a resort for advanced skiers, half of the mountain is intermediate trails. The resort has some nice family-oriented ski packages which combine lodging and lift tickets. In addition, amenities include a great recreation center called High Camp, an olympic-sized skating rink, a huge pool, an indoor climbing center, etc.

What's New This Year: Squaw Valley Lodge Expands!

The 4 diamond Squaw Valley Lodge is nearing completion of it's latest expansion, a brand new building right at the base of the mountain.

The new building adds a total of 40 units, most of which are 2 bedroom suites. The new building is located just east of the Squaw Valley Lodge entrance, adjacent to the Olympic Village and the Cable Car building (see below).

The location affords excellent views of the mountain and easy, ski-in/ski-out access to shops and restaurants.

Squaw Valley's Pre-Season Ski-in, Ski-out Package is perfect for families planning an early season getaway to Squaw Valley USA. Packages include two nights of convenient on-mountain lodging at the Squaw Valley Lodge in a studio with a kitchenette and two days of lift tickets for $380, based on double occupancy. With this package, kids 12 & under stay FREE. Valid opening day through December 14, 2000.

The Tahoe City Midweek Special blends the best of both worlds, great savings and the peace and quiet of a mid-week getaway. Package includes two nights lodging in charming downtown Tahoe City and two days of lift tickets for $334, based on double occupancy. This package is available Sunday through Thursday from November 18, 2000 until closing day of the season.

In celebration of the New Year, Squaw Valley is offering beginner skiers and snowboarders the perfect opportunity to improve their skills all throughout January. The First Time Adventure Package includes two nights of mountainside accommodations, and two first time beginner packages, including rental equipment, beginner lift tickets and lessons for $404, based on double occupancy. Packages may be used for either ski or snowboard lessons. Learn to ski and ride with Squaw Valley.s Adventure Package from January 1 - 31, 2001, midweek, non-holiday.

Day Care: Children's World (530) 581-7225 is for guests between the ages of 2 and 12. Toddler Care is for ages 2&3. Each day is filled with fun activities including arts and crafts, music, snow play and story time. This is a fully licensed California Child Care Center. The rate is $69 for a full day and $49 for a half day.

Children's/ Teens' Programs: Snow School is for children ages 4 - 6. All skill levels are welcome, with classes starting at the Children's World beginner area. Groups will explore the mountain according to their skill level.

Junior Mountain Program is for ages 7-12. The focus is on skill development, skiing etiquette, safety, enjoying the sport of skiing, and keeping the kids smiling. All skill levels are offered, and groups will explore the mountain. We will also offer a first time and novice Snowboard lesson option for the 8 through 12 age group. Instruction will focus on slope etiquette, equipment knowledge, safety, basic skills development, and of course FUN!

Family Recreational Activities: High Camp features the Olympic Ice Pavilion, sleigh rides, snowtubing, bungee jumping, Headwall Climbing Wall and the Opera House Cinema showing new movies.

Lodging: Squaw Valley offers more than 900 on-site units. Accomodations range from luxurious, 4-star hotels, condominiums perfect for families, and the most intimate bed and breakfast inns. 3day/3 night packages including lift tickets start at $192. Other deals are available on the website.

Amenities: Squaw Valley features restaurants at the High Camp and Gold Coast. Other eateries are at Elevation 6,200'. The base village has an arcade and shops.

Transportation Available: The Valley Shuttle operates throughout the resort. Central reservations can arrange for an airport shuttle.
