What's New This Year: Highland House, a new beautiful slopeside lodge with deluxe accommodations, two new restaurants, and several new shops, adds yet another dimension to the Village at Snowshoe.

They've added a nice and wide 1/2 mile long novice trail called Yew Pine and expanded existing novice trails in the area which will be know as the Northern Tract. Ski and Board Schools can now offer novice skiers and snowboarders more room to learn in a safe and comfortable environment.

For those of you looking for adventure, they've added even more this season. Climb aboard a snowmobile for an excursion to the new fire tower perched on the eastern ridge of Snowshoe Mountain or have a team of Huskies take you on a backcountry ride. And, we've taken slopeside lodging to the extreme...spend the night at the Shavers Lake Hideaway at the base of the Ball Hooter lift. There may not be running water, but you'll find fantastic waffles at the Boathouse and plenty of fresh tracks in the morning.

While out on the hill at Silver Creek this season, be certain to stop in and grab a bite to eat at the Black Run Sugar House. Modeled after the area's old time maple syrup shack, the Sugar House will give you an opportunity to try some sugary home brew made right here in the hills of West Virginia.

Resort Overview: With an elevation of 4,848 feet, Snowshoe is the tallest ski mountain in the Mid-Atlantic region. It has 53 trails and gets an average of 15 feet of snow per year. Not bad for an Eastern resort -- especially one in the Mid-Atlantic! Due to its rather spread-out nature, the resort offers two locations for its children's ski schools and day care facilities so guests can choose the one that's closest to them. The Snowshoe/Silver Creek Child Care Centers offer hourly through full-day programs for children 12 weeks to 10 years old. The Brr Rabbit Ski School introduces kids 4-6 to skis using a game-like approach that kids enjoy. The resort's Mogul Busters program for 7-12 year olds is divided by ability and allows kids to learn while skiing with others their own age. Children 6 and under ski free when accompanied by a parent, and reduced junior rates apply to children 7-12. Special kids' discounts and Kids 12 and Under Ski Free packages are offered at selected times during the season. Off the slopes, your kids can visit The Cave, an arcade and family fun center, as well as swim, play the indoor 18-hole miniature golf course, or be entertained on Saturday nights at Shavers Centre.
