Resort Overview: This family-oriented ski resort in northern New Hampshire offers lots of trails for beginning and intermediate skiers. The resort has spent $4 million in mountain improvements, and offers a $10 Kids' Ticket. Youths ages 6-12 pay $10 everyday, all season. The Town Center, its off-slope village has plenty to keep everyone occupied: a health club with a pool, tennis and weight rooms; an indoor ice-skating rink, cross-country skiing, showshoeing trails, sleigh rides and a handful of shops, bars and restaurants. Best of all, it's all within walking distance or a short shuttle ride of the resort's lodging, which means you can turn the kids loose in what one employee calls "the world's largest cul-de-sac," due to the resort's box-canyon location. Heeding skiers' requests for better value, Waterville is striving to offer guests more for their money. There are now interchangeable lift tickets and midweek passes with sister Booth Creek resorts Loon and Cranmore, including the tri-resort "Threedom" season pass, which one reader calls "the best value in the Northeast." Another reader applauds the resort's "aggressive management aimed at guest enjoyment," which may explain the new free one-hour clinics. "There's something for everyone," a reader says. An expanded Exhibition Park will offer a variety of on-snow activities, including tubing, snowblades and snowbikes. Activities are included with child's lift ticket, 9 am to noon. A good deal is the $15 valet parking is a blessing for families and others who don't want to deal with parking lot shuttles and crowds For more information, call 800-GO VALLEY.

What's New This Year: This winter at Waterville Valley kids get an all-access pass to fun in Exhibition Park, featuring snowtubing excitement at Skittery Gulch. From 9:00 am - noon, kids 12 and under with a daily lift ticket can use all the cool toys in Exhibition Park for free including snow tubes, ski bikes, snowscoots, ski foxes, and snow blades. New Tubing Area: Skittery Gulch, Waterville Valley's new daytime tubing area, debuts this winter, with service off the World Cup Triple chairlift. Running directly under the Triple and Quad chairs, half the fun will be watching the action on Skttery Gulch's two corkscrew courses. Guests will be able to purchase tickets and rent snow tubes at the Snowtoy Center at the base of the mountain. For an extra charge to their lift ticket, parents can join in the morning fun at Exhibition Park with their kids.

New Little Slammer Terrain Park: Kids not quite at the level of snowboarding on Exhibition Park's terrain features, can cruise next door to Little Slammer. Located on Valley Run, this new, smaller park, has scaled down elements, including a smaller halfpipe (6' X 100'). Little Slammer is the place to practice tricks and work on technique before heading to the bigger stuff

Also, Mondays and Fridays at Waterville Valley are now Refresher Days - a mini 1-day vacation with all the bonuses that our overnight guests receive. And all for just the normal price of a midweek lift ticket. We're also having two 3-day retreats exclusively for women in Jan. and Feb

Plus, Waterville's Women's Wednesday's - Every Wednesday at Waterville will feature special programs designed for women, from free child care to 1/2 price kids programs, and more.
