Skiing Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the FTN's Skiing FAQ area! These answers to skiing's most frequently asked questions were compiled and authored by SnowTravel, a PSIA certified ski instructor with nearly 30 years experience skiing and 6 years teaching. It's an evolving work intended to serve as a general guide for FTN members interested in sharing the winter environment with friends and loved ones. That's what skiing is all about!

We hope you'll find this material informative and enjoyable, but please read it with a few caveats in mind. First, these questions and answers are intended for entertainment only. Use them as points of departure in seeking additional information from qualified sources familiar with your particular situation. Since no general advice works in every case, this material isn't intended and shouldn't be used to replace the advice of a ski instructor, equipment technician, doctor, lawyer or other qualified professional. While we think this material is useful and correct, it's only our opinion. In short, take this material as you would opinions from an informed friend, one with knowledge of the subject, but with all the biases and flaws of a friend as well. The author reserves the right to change his opinions at any time!

If you have a frequently-asked question that isn't answered here--or you want to propose a new question or answer--leave a message under "Ask SnowTravel" and we'll consider publishing it.
